German slangs to describe someone you don’t like

There’s always a day when you meet someone who’s all so important that they flash their arrogance all over their face. This is the day where you can put some German Umgangsprache into practical use without sounding too mean.

  • Der Wichtigtuer: self-important person
  • Der Angeber: poser (it’s also common to use Der Poser in german, as I understand from my friend.)
  • Eine Pappnase: idiot wie Dummkopf
  • Der Motzer: someone who complains openly
  • motzen, murren, sich beschweren, beklagen: complains, laments
  • Der Klugscheisser: Mr Know-it-all
  • Naseweis: same as know-it-all

Warning : please use these with care. Too much name calling is afterall not kind 😛

About germanforrunway

learning german is a love and hate learning journey. The beginning is difficult and it gets maybe tougher but definitely more lyrical as I discover the colloquial language or the slangs and in german 'Umgangssprache'. german for runways is a collection of slangs that I have learnt from the germans around me and my wonderful friend, Kirsten, is the mastermind behind the blogname. german for runways is the direct and awfully wrong translation for german for advanced level.
